Ordered chicks that were supposed to be egg production pack. They were born around 8/1. Sorry for bad pic, but they are looking like they are broilers though 🤪. Can anybody confirm?? Thanks!
Edit: I just googled white leghorns, maybe those?? Just the white ones :)
I need to order some chicks, and it’s a little overwhelming. I really want to get some silkies, but I need to get some standard hens, too. I’d like some color in my eggs. Do salmon favorelles do well with silkies? I had brahmas before, and I loved them. I am just unsure if it’s a good idea...
This chicken is so sweet, but the company we got it from put it in for free (wish they didn’t), and it does NOT mix well with our chickens. I’ve tried everything, and I don’t have room to just leave it by itself so I’m trying to find it a new home that has it’s breed. They keep pecking it’s...
Got this along with others at TSC, hatched at the end of July. Does this look like a rooster too? It’s beautiful. They were supposed to be pullets, but I think they just put them all together and clearanced them out. Thanks!
My daughter picked up one of the chickens and noticed that it’s side above the leg area was swollen. I checked her today and there is like fluid that moves around right there. I circled the area that it’s at. It feels like sour croup (air and fluid) just in the wrong spot. She seems fine...
These are all around the same age but this black and reddish color one seems way bigger and more red. It was from the pullets at TSC - prairie bluebell eggers. Hatched in July.
Thanks so much.
Ordered some chicks, one is supposed to be a rooster, they are around 7 weeks old. May still be early, but it’s pretty red. They are all beautiful though!
Noticed my hen had a swollen chest, upon feeling it, it feels like watery and squishy. She’s coming out of the coop, but I need help. Online, it said to isolate & try apple cider vinegar diluted in water and feed with syringe, massage, etc. Anyone have any other ideas? Anything that helped...
Bought 5 EE from Hoover’s & I’ve been reading up on combs and egg colors.. is this a thing? Two have started to lay and they are cream. One on left definitely has the floppy, huge comb. She’s laying cream. You can tell in the pic. I’m not too good with understand pea combs, but does it look...
I posted a while back, but this Easter egger is around 17 weeks now. It’s a little bigger and more red, any thoughts on it being a possible roo? Thanks
Hey friends, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. We purchased an assortment of chickens a couple months ago. They’re about 9 weeks old, supposed to be all females. I get Easter eggers are a hybrid, but what’s up with the Mohawks? Do these look like a typical Easter eggers & does pic with...
Hello, all I have buff & lavender orpingtons, welsummers. They are great breeds. We are rotating out our Rhode Island reds and need to get more chicks. I do not like Rhode Island reds. Does anyone have any advice on good breeds to go with the orpingtons / welsummers? Are brahmas or...
This has never happened and it’s more of a vent. My daughter collected eggs and I was cracking them for breakfast, and I noticed blood coming out, and then inside the egg you could see obv black from the eyes and a heartbeat. These were just collected not refrigerated. I feel so awful. This...
We’ve had so much rain, and I’ve noticed our chickens have had diarrhea.. I think at this point a dewormer wouldn’t hurt, can someone point me to a direction of a good dewormer I could pick up at TSC or order off Amazon? And how much I should use? We have about 30 chickens, and I think I could...
A neighbor’s dog found it’s way into our backyard somehow and grabbed one of our chicks and threw it in the air while we had them foraging. It lost a lot of feathers, but I thought it was okay until I saw it hobbling. Is this more of a bruise from what happened or infection? On the back it...
I’ve got to get some more chicks, and we’ve mainly gotten Rhode Island reds, and no offense to RIR lovers, but those can be very territorial (meant to add jerks at times). I’ve gotten some lavender orps, and those temperaments seem good. Are Wyandottes good? Buff orpingtons? Also, anyone...
Over a week ago, we had to take off our rooster’s toe. It was severely infected, and started to travel up, started smelling and pretty sure gangrene was occurring. Anyway, he is on antibiotics, we clean the area every day, apply topical antibiotic and bandage it. Every time we change out the...
