I've just hatched out a bunch of partridge Silkie Bantams. I'm wondering if there's any way to see a hint of gender in their chipmunk stripes. If there's more brown would it be female? More black male?
This is a real Silkie Bantam-only poultry show! No mixes or non-bearded Silkies are allowed. I would love to judge this, based on my own knowledge of the Silkie Bantam breed, but if there is anyone that is very experienced then you may certainly judge! If I do end up judging, and there are...
In the last contest I created, I felt that it was not fair to the Silkie roosters because naturally, they were not as "cute" as a Silkie hen would be. So I decided to make a weekly contest for any breed of hen ONLY. Any roosters submitted will not be a part of the competition. Thank you to all...
I love Silkies, and thought they needed their own competition! Final Judging will be on April 13, 2021. The colors allowed are White, Black, Buff, Partridge, Blue, Splash, Paint, and Grey. If I missed a color you would like to enter P.M. me, and I'll see if it would work :). As the title says...

I have a few hens that all went broody at the same time. They have since come out of it, but I am not getting eggs after 2 weeks. I am wondering how long it takes them to start again.
Thanks in advance for the feedback!

I was looking through a catalog today to find some layer breeds to expand my laying flock, and found Sapphire Gems. Does anyone have them and are willing to give me some info (especially on the egg color)?
I breed Silkie chickens and as many of you probably know, they go broody quite frequently. Are there any tips on how to get them out of their broody faze quicker? ❓
I first got my chickens about 5 years ago, but I've been around them all my life.
Right now I have about 35 chickens.
I have Bearded Silkie Bantams, the Calico Princess breed, Asian Blacks, and a bunch of mixed breeds.
My favorite aspects of raising chickens are having little fluff balls running...
