I have what I believe is a brahma hen that is have an issue of her droppings collecting on her feathers. I don't want it to cause issues so I need to get rid of it but I don't want to hurt her in the process and I was wondering if anyone knows how to prevent it from happening.
I am getting some fertilized eggs from a co-worker to put under a broody hen (no longer have a rooster) and I am wondering how long they can go once laid before they need to be put under the hen. I requested 4 eggs just to increase the chance of actually having a chick hatch, however, she only...
I have 4 pullets that are roughly 8-9 weeks old. I'm needing to add them to an existing flock and I'm wondering about the feed. The pullets are on a growing feed and the existing flock are on a Layena+Omega 3 pellet. I would really like to keep them on that because they're eggs have been great...
I have 2 laying hens and 5 that haven't started laying. I am still feeding them starter feed but give them oyster shells. Should I just switch to a layer feed since the younger pullets are almost at laying age?

I have an EE and RIR that are roughly 26 weeks old and are not laying. They are in a mixed flock and are the oldest by a few months. They are in a run and are being fed an 18% protein starter feed, I put some oyster shell in the run in a separate bowl to see if that would help but still now eggs.
This is Bucket (kids named it). The bird is about 6 months old and was sold as an Amerucana but I'm not sure if that is correct. Also, is it a hen or rooster?
