Hello, I have four chicks, who are 3 weeks old on Saturday. Two are Buff Orpingtons, one is a Marsbar and one is a Cream Legbar.
I noticed this morning that there was some bright red blood in their poo- i'm not sure which one as whenever I watch the poo looks fine!
I immediately thought...
I recently purchased two white Orphington hens, around 18 months old.
We noticed as soon as we brought them home that one of the hens had an odd black patch on her side. She was eating, drinking and pooing fine so we left her to settle for a few days before investigating. It looked like a...
I have a hen in my flock who always sleeps near the door of the coop. She keeps attacking any other hen who tries to go in at night and now i'm finding hens trying to sleep all over the run!
Does anyone have any advice for stopping this behaviour?
I bought a group of day old and was reassured that bantams and large fowl could live together. I got three bantams and an Orpington. Sadly, the Orpington and one of the bantams aren't around anymore and one of the bantams turned out to be a cockeral!
The bantam cockeral doesn't seem to jump on...
I purchased 4 day-old chicks from a breeder. A Buff Sussex, Buff Orpington and two Gold Partridge Wynadotte Bantams. All were sexed pullets, except for the Orpington, who was unsexed. Luckily, we think she is a girl because one of the GPWB is definitely a cockerail and not a GPWB! The other was...

Hello! I bought 4 chicks, including my first bantams. Two of the chicks (both 9 weeks) I was told are Gold Partridge Wynadotte Bantams. One of them is classically what (I think) they should look like and the other is quite different! I don't really mind about breeds but I am curious as to...
I have a gorgeous 5 week old Buff Orpington, who came unsexed with 3 girls of different breeds. Behaviour wise, Dumpling is very friendly and confident, which makes us suspect maybe they are a cockeral. He or she (provided they don't get aggressive) will be loved regardless. Just curious to see...
I have four 7 week old mixed breed chicks, three of whom seem to have cuts or lumps on their peaks that are bleeding. One chicks is larger then the others. They have just started to spend an hour or two a day outside in a chicken coop with fox proof wire and the rest of the day they have been...
