I thought maybe my 18 month old Cochin was just taking a dust bath in the shaded area of the barn. Her legs were very stiff and she couldn’t stand. I picked her up and she was very hot under the breast area.
I tried putting her in a little shallow tub of water. She didn’t want to drink much and...
I bought a Black sex link from TSC that has a strange lump I noticed today. It is semi-soft to touch. They’ve been eating Dumor chick feed. Have access to fresh water and have pine flakes in their brooder
I have a newly laying olive egger. She has layed a few 3oz double yolker but I noticed this week several shades of color difference. Today the egg looked blue.
Can the same hen be laying all these shades of green?
I got two of these day old bantam chicks at TSC.
The coloring is rust, grey and charcoal in a pretty pattern. Three toes possibly feathered feet?
I have no idea of breed? Any guesses?
I couldn’t resist giving these 3 little guys (or gals?) a ride home. They are so tiny and cute. Some have feathered feet and when they (kind of) agreed to pose for pictures tonight in the barn, I couldn’t resist sharing these and hoping to get some clues of their breed. Any ideas?
I need help determining what to do for this roo. He can walk but it wasn’t obvious, due to his feathered feet, until he grew big enough to go into the big chicken run.
I’m not sure if the turned under toenail made a sore or is it bumblefoot or just what?
Acts normal.
She got hurt when I moved the cage during the storm last night. She fell out from under the bottom and cannot stand up and not interested in eating or drinking. Not making noises. Barely lifts her neck, or seldom moves legs. Cannot stand or sit upright. No broken skin. Not sure what's wrong...
I bought 10 black Cochins from a breeder who had them in a converted 55 gallon drum turned on its side. Everything was very clean but the 2-3 week old chickens had some missing feathers. I thought perhaps they were overcrowded and the breeder assured me the feathers would come back in.
6 weeks...
I have a Cochin rooster that fertilized the hen’s eggs I incubated. There was a frizzled hen’s eggs in the same coop. Bought the smooth rooster at the same location. Could he possibly carry the frizzle gene?
I had a few other breeds (non frizzle) that hatched also fertilized by the Cochin...
