I bought 10 black Cochins from a breeder who had them in a converted 55 gallon drum turned on its side. Everything was very clean but the 2-3 week old chickens had some missing feathers. I thought perhaps they were overcrowded and the breeder assured me the feathers would come back in.
6 weeks later, two of those chicks still look very different from the others. They behave like the others and even one of the “normal” Cochins seems protective over the one with the biggest bare bottom.
Any ideas? They eat, drink, run and act completely normal.
