We have three chickens and one of them is pecking at another one. The one being pecked as well as the other chicken are laying fine. The one that is doing the pecking has not laid an egg since the fall. They are all healthy, safe, lots of fresh water and food etc. Does this chicken just hate...
10 weeks old frizzled polish that looks different than our other frizzled polish which we are 99% sure is a hen. Looking hen to me with no waddle but also 🤷♀️ thoughts?
About 7 weeks old frizzled gold laced polish chick. Can’t see any combs or waddles behind all the fluff so no idea and first time with this type of chicken. Any idea of roo or hen?
We have two frizzle chicks, around 6 weeks old from same breeder. They look completely different. It’s also much smaller in size. Curious if anyone knows why? In the pic you can see the one in question at the bottom and its sibling is at the top of the photo. Just a runt? The one in question had...
Hello!
Second time with chicks and curious whether we have some hens this time. Last time we ended up with 4/5 being roosters 🫠
Breeds are Olive egger (black) and Easter egger (grey) and approx 3.5 week old. Thinking one for sure (last pic). It’s way more flighty/confident/speedy so much so I...
Okay so posted a month or so ago that 3 new rehomed hens (ages 1-2 allegedly) had started laying very randomly with one laying almost every day, one maybe 1-2 a week ish, and one not at all and still has not. We got them june 12th so they should be adjusted by now yes? They seem happy and well...
We took in three hens june 12th and only one hen has started laying an egg every 1-2 days. The other two have produced one in that timeframe. I anticipated it taking awhile for them to adjust so happy to be getting some already, but just confused on the inconsistency. They are all around 1-2...
Picked up some hens the other day and this girl came along. She’s missing her tail feathers. Previous owners thought maybe stress moulting? Any ideas? She seems okay other than maybe a bit more sleepy than the others. Still eating and drinking. Exploring.
We got 5 chicks and have since discovered 4 are roos and one is a hen. We were planning on just hosting hens at this time so going to rehome the Roos (back to a family farm) and will be seeking new hens. A few questions.
Is it a good idea to remove roos first? But then will the hen get lonely...
New to backyard chickens and got some chicks about a month ago. They are now 10 week old austra whites. Any ideas if these are all roos or any potentially could be hens? We have heard the occasional roo sound but minimal and not from all.
Thanks!
