Looking for a hatchery or breeder in Michigan, Ohio, or Indiana that has at least one of these breeds and does in person pickup. Open to other sustainable meat breeds.
Im thinking about hatching some chicken eggs during winter to sell as started pullets/cockerels in the spring. I was wondering the legality of this in Ohio (might sell to Michigan and Indiana too)?
Located in Willams County Ohio
So my local feed mill produces 2 types of poultry feed a 16% laying feed and a 18% broiler feed. Once we have cockerels in with our laying hens would feeding the broiler feed with free choice oyster shells be ok for them long term.

We ordered 25 chicks through Sandhill Preservation Center and out first shipment only 5 survived and our next shipment none survived. And Glenn said that everything that has been shipped through Grand Rapids died. Even larger hatcheries are having this problem.
I need some name suggestions for 5 chicks.
We don't know the sexes so something gender neutral. Would like names related to or means survivor as they were the only chicks to survive out of a shipment of 27.
What qualities do you look for in cockerel to know what one to keep or cull. (Mainly in regards to temperament). And at what ages do you start to choose and cull.
