Hi all I have a GQF 1502 cabinet incubator, and now I'm at that point where I'm doing staggered hatches and need a seperate reliable hatcher. Looking for input from others on if you own a GQF or Dickey Hatcher, and why you purchased it? GQF is probably more common, and parts maybe easier to...
Hello,
We are looking to add some Dutch Hookbills, and more East Indie ducks to our
group this coming spring. If anyone here sells hatching eggs for either of these two varieties please let us know. We can also do a trade if we have some hatching eggs you would like in return.
Cheers! Zekii
We don't have problems with keeping heated water bowls/waterers for the chickens, ducks and turkeys because they don't chew on the electrical cables, but geese do...yikes!
What do you do to provide frozen free water for your geese flock in winter...and I'm talking winters where the temps get...
Well I am totally stumped trying to incubate & hatch geese, I've been incubating & hatching chickens, ducks & turkeys and have
never experienced the issues I've been having trying to hatch out some geese. Maybe since my adult geese are only a year old their eggs aren't the hardiest? This is...
My 1st turkey poult hatch of 2014, post some photos of yours...!
The white poults are midget whites, and then I the white faced, brown poults are
a Jersey buff - Midget white cross.
16 eggs in the hatcher, 10 hatched, will have another hatch next week.
I need to get going on putting together some nest boxes for my group, I've been noticing some nesting behavior in the bedding inside the coop. I only have one nest box at present, but figure I should have another 2 or 3 more. Post any plans with declensions you have, and pictures would be a plus!!
26 turkeys I've been wintering over this year, so far they are all looking good, I am striving for longevity and a flock that can adjust to the hot & cold temps we get here in NH, so this winter has been a good test of cold hardiness.
I have Midget whites, Narragansetts, and Jersey Buff turkeys...
Does anyone here web punch their ducks/geese to identify matings...etc?
What do you use to web punch ducks? I have a small toe punch tool for chickens, but
was thinking would need something larger to web punch ducks/geese, maybe an actually paper punch?
I built a couple chicken tractors, with attached coop, these are portable.
I am going to use welded wire for the top & sides, but trying to decide what is best for the floor.
I was thinking of something plastic coated..are the openings for plastic coated chicken wire to large for the chickens to...
I have a question in regards to membranes starting to dry towards the end of a hatch.
We had a relatively normal hatch, 6 of the 11 eggs the poults were out, at that time the incubator was getting
crowded with poults & egg shells. We decided to wait another 6 hours to see if the other 3 eggs...
We are getting some American Buff goslings this spring, and are starting to plan
the Goose coop & area. We currently keep a small group of Welsh Harlequin ducks, and are wondering if Geese & Ducks can share the same coop, or would it be better to
have separate quarters for the Geese? Anyone...
I want to start some American Buff Geese this season and am looking for
some hatching eggs or hatchlings. Blues or Lavanders preferred. Let me know what variety you have?
Please contact me either via this thread or PM me.
Thanks,
Zekii

Seems to be alot of controversy regarding these two varieties of turkeys.
I supposely have Midget Whites, and so far my weights seem to be true to the
variety. Has anyone determined any further definitive information on how to determine
the difference between these two varieties other than...
We received 2 Ancona ducks one is almost all white, while the other one has black eye
markings, and blue/brown coloration on the body. These two are almost 10 weeks old now...is there a way to sex Ancona ducks? The duckling with the spotted colorations seems to be taller than the all white...
Anyone here use turkey saddles for their breeding hens?
If so did you buy them, and where?
I didn't hatch enough hens this year, and my tom to hen ratio will be 1:1
so I am thinking the hens might need some protection during breeding season.
Looking for some ideas/hints...what others are using for bedding inside their turkey coops? My coop as a solid painted wood floor, I covered with pine wood shavings...so far it is working ok, but not sure how long it will take before I need to remove the old bedding/replace or just add to...
