My free range flock of 6 hens and 1 rooster, most of the hens are less than a year old. Usually the yolks had been very large but sometimes lately they are less in size. Today one of the eggs had just a white yolk. Any ideas friends?
About 2 years ago I replaced my free range flock with 3 Sexlink chicks. I have never been happy with egg production. Summertime it was maybe 1 egg every 2 days, now it slacked off to maybe 1 every 3 or 4 days. They only are out to free range for a couple of hours in the afternoon so I am sure...
Neighbor has several different chicken hens. No rooster but has one Guinea male that has been mating with one of his Barred Rock hens. She now is sitting on a clutch of eggs. Are they fertile? If they are, what will he get?. Will the be some sort of hybrid?

I have an establised rooster, three hens, and three hens about six months old. They stay in the coop until I let them free range in the evenings when I get home from work. All is well when the are in the coop. One of the established hens decided recently that she dosen't want the rooster to have...

I found this site by accident. It sounds pretty awesome. I live in the city, but my neighborhood is zoned open rural. My chickens would be considered pets I guess. It's nice to let them roam the property when I get home after a long day and just watch their antics. Hope to hear from members in...
