Poor Louisa has one eye closed!!!

Last week we took our chickens to a hen boarding house as we were going away for a few days. When we collected them, we noticed that Louisa has one eye closed. It isn't gunky and she can open it, as she does when we pick her up. But she seems to be keeping it closed 90% of the time for some...

    New hen is the bully!

Today we decided to add a hen to our very small flock of 3. We have a very small garden but have built a reasonable sized run and our original 3 seemed very happy so we thought we'd add. We got them just over a week ago and the very next day all laid. Same again the next day. Since then...

Found a soft shelled egg this morning!

Just under the perches! Never seen one before. Googled it and hopefully all is ok. Maybe just an egg laying blip it said.

Can you over feed hens on scraps??

Hi everyone and thanks for making me feel so welcome to the forum! I was wondering if it were possible to give your chickens too many scraps? When I bought them (only a week ago) the pet shop assistant told me not to give too many yet other people have advised me that you can feed chickens...

    Hello from London!!

Hi everyone! Not only am I a newbie to the forum, I am also a newbie to chicken keeping! I am a working mum with a working OH, 3 DS's aged 14, 9 and 5. We live in a terraced house in London with a small backyard style garden and hopefully patient, chicken loving neighbours! We have had Ruby...
