    Bumblefoot?

I noticed this on a hen, this morning. She was walking a little funny, with her tail feathers pointing down. I thought maybe a stuck egg and gave her a bath. She doesn't have a stuck egg, but has this on one of her feet. Any ideas? Thank you

    Introducing chicks to existing flock...

I have a 2 year old flock of 6 chickens that I'm trying to introduce 3 13 week old "babies" to. I had the babies in the yard, next to the coop so everyone could see each other for about a week. Then I started letting everyone in the yard, including the babies, during the day, for a week. At...

    Bathe or trim feathers?

One of my Rocks has a lot of poo, in the feathers around her vent. Should I try to bathe her or trim off the feathers, with the poo on them? If bathing is the best answer, how does one bath a chicken? Thank you

    I need help...

I have 6 hens, as of yesterday 4 are now laying. Yesterday, while I was out, a VERY light brown/cream colored egg appeared. I assumed it was from our Black Australorp, but I was wrong. Today I went out to check for eggs and our Americana was on her nest. When she left the hen house I went...

    Egg Size?

How do you size the eggs? Is there a tool or scale you buy? Or do you just go with what the breed standard is (ie, if a breed is supposed to lay medium sized eggs then go with it being a medium size egg)?

Pullets have become VERY loud, are eggs to follow?

I have 6 chickens, 2 RIR, 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Black Australorp, and 1 Americana and they are all 19 weeks old. In the last 72 hours they have become VERY, VERY loud. It starts with a deep rrrrrrrrr sound, which gets louder and then squawking, which is even louder. They have not laid their first...
