I hatched these cuties in my hovabator for my fifth graders ( remotely if course!). I'm hoping to add some girls to my own flock. . They hatched May 20th, so they are almost a month old..I know it's early.. but I'm anxious!! What do you think? I'll post what I think too!
I have one buff...
I would definitely get him isolated from the others and start him on an antibiotic....just put it in his water....Hope he gets better and everyone else stays well!
II was kind of thinking the same thing, I am going to start her on something, but what antibiotic should I use with her? I know we've used teramyacin before..just wonder if that would work for this??
Other than the "lump" on her "cheek" this hamburg hen is eating/laying fine. She isn't raspy or having difficulty breathing and there aren't any other symptoms. Should I be worried?? Should I be treating her with something? If I should be treating her, what should I treat her with?? Thanks...

What a mess!! I wore a dust mask and made my son too-- we dusted tag team style --we both took showers because we looked like powdered donuts !! Pretty sure I won't be getting any bugs myself !!!
Well, we dusted everyone.....even the one's who I didn't physically see the lice on...and again, the ones that I did see the lice one weren't bad, nothing at the base of the feathers or anything..which is good. I think I got it early enough, I guess time will tell. I also took every bit of...
Thanks ! I appreciate the video link...will check it out. I just cleaned the coop, but I'm going to do it again today and change the bedding out etc.. The thought of bugs (even though I KNOW they are there even when I don't see them!) totally creeps me out...I'm going to do both I think. I...
One more quick question...If we use the Severin dust (5%) will that get the lice ?? I know it's used for mites and other pests...will our eggs be okay??? Should we pitch the eggs?? Thanks for your help!
What is the best way to treat them?I don't see mites at all...just the almost clear little, what I am assuming are lice? I'm only seeing them on a few ( like 4 out of my 36 hens) -- Should I treat everyone preventatively?? I've read a lot about DE too..is that the best route to go?? What...
Yes !:! My husband came home early Thursday to "check" -- he's a softie -- and sure enough, it had hatched, but mom abandoned it, so he brought it in the barn and set up the heat lamp etc...and it was up and running in a few hours -- so glad he came home early, and our other little fella...
Only 25 more minutes til I can head home to check -- can't wait! These eggs weren't the broody's eggs...she's been broody off and on since the beginning of January and we finally let her go-- but she hasn't laid an egg forever -- Hopefully this will satisfy her and all will be well !! I'll...
Just wanted to say that IT'S HATCHING !!! I'm so incredibly anxious to get home from work today!!! Hoping things go well --just couldn't justify a sick day for my chickens !! I'll post pictures later when I get home -- Our little one (hatched out Sunday) is going to be so happy to have a...
Mom's still on the egg...and when she isn't, I've got another broody that take's her half hour eating/drinking shift over for her -- she sits clucking in the box next door until the setting hen gets up and then she scoots right over and gets herself all cozy...kind of funny really -- I'm just...
