Aloha,
What do you think about this last round of chicks? Boy or girl?
Dad is a game mix. There are multiple purebreed moms. They are 10-11 weeks old.
#1: white leghorn mom
#2: white leghorn mom
#3: no idea...maybe one of the white leghorns (this one is my absolute favorite!)
#4: this...
Hello,
Could you all help us determine if these new chicks are keepers or not?
Dad is a game mix and various moms:
#1--I think this one was from our little bantam mom, maybe a Welsummer
#2--we call this one's mom a black leghorn, but never have been sure about that. She's all black.
#3--not...
Here's another round of "please help me figure out what to do with my brood"!
Papa is a game mix, moms are a variety of purebreeds.
Chicks are about 10 weeks.
#1 Ha, ha...not sure. I think the mom was an Ameraucana...
#2 Mama is a white leghorn
#3 RIR mom---COCKEREL all the way, right...

Male or female...that is the question....
Here is round #1 of pics from my new batch of chicks, now 10 weeks. The male is a mix himself (BYC posters think he's a game/EE mix). I'm not sure on all of the chicks' moms, but...
#1 is Ameraucana mom
#2 is a Leghorn mom
#3 is a Rhode Island Red mom...

I was told to not take them out until they are completely dry. That is only a few hours. I know you can leave them in for a while, but not longer than two days. My big problem with leaving them for very long at all was that they bumped and rolled by eggs in "lockdown" and drowned them (at...
I just checked my little Bantam hen today, as it's day 21 and low and behold there was one little chick nice and dry under her and another hatching as I looked! So exciting! AND HILARIOUS as none of the eggs seem to be hers...the two little peeps were solid black and came out of dark brown...
