Hi Blindchix
I have had a number of chickens like this over the years...
Like Simz said... do not use this one for breeding... she will pass this on to her chicks...
I had a hen that lived to a good old age and I have hatched others that had to be culled as they got thinner and thinner.... the...
How old is the pullet?
It is my understanding that sometimes white juvenile feathers happen until after the moult in the first year.
If the pullet has gone through the moult.... probly not a great idea to use her for breeding...

Congrats on your Marans!
First eggs are always fun. Glad to here you straighten out your roo.. I have one that needs an attitude adjustment right now, but I have to find the time to set him right.. Until then, the kids are not alowed into that pen! (he is so bad the DH noticed!! and he really...
Thank you
I have a GQF hovabator 1588 ... used for the past year to hatch. I just got an old GQF1202 and humitiy seems very consistant with a small pan of water. I am letting the pan dry completely, (partly due to no window) I will be using my 1588 to hatch going forward.
The reason behind the %...
***Scary good*** I bet it holds the heat better than the old wooden cabinet models... Only questions I have... is how do you get the fresh air into it? do you have a vent? The little eggs need oxygen (I believe) and the freezer would seal up tight! Thank you for posting, gives me the confidence...
Such a shame you want to bring in contractors......
If you need something cut, if you measure first, the hardware store will likely cut for you... Then all you need is screws and a drill with a bit. ( trust me, se screws... Nails are really hard to remove if you make an error)
You can do...
Congrats on your first hatch....... Lets just say every hatch is exciting... So you have the same feeling every time... Very addictive.
A. The chick will be fine for about 2 days ... They are still obsorbing the egg yolk and they will be fine... Already was mentioned...
B. please do not open...
If you look at this guy, you can see that he has a sprig at the back of his comb.
Basically, he has a point that comes out of the side instead of straight up like it is supposed to.
I had one that was gorgeous with the exception of a sprig...
I can't find a picture of him..
You have placed yourself in a position of responsibility.
I would pay the $2.. very good price.
I do process my boys.
I try and catch them off the perch at the edge of night after they are relaxed for bed.
Quickly flip them and hang them by thier feet.
(I have found getting 2at a time keeps...

Is it the hova bator 1588?
If so you shouldn`t have had to do anything but plug it in and add water??
I have one and love it.
I agree you could have stacked and tossed after candling.
My opinion, you are going to need two incubators anyway... you should have splurged for the sportsman...
OK... you asked for it...
photos of my first babies...
The next hatch...

The next hatch......
There is another batch in... but no photos yet!!
Turkey babies too!!
Great Little Incubator
My first time hatching was a breeze. It got me hooked to hatching.
It was so easy to use. I do recommend reading the directions, so you know were to put the water.
Essentially, you plug it in, add water and put the fertilized eggs in!
Cost for me was good as well.. You...
I do have a couple of cat carriers and I like those.
They are expensive, even 2nd hand.
I am removing the chicken wire and putting thin plywood or panel board on the 2ft versions.
I am keeping the wire on one side of the 4 ft, for sales.... it may do the feathers a bit of damage, but it shows...
I have been at a couple of shows and sales this year and learned a few things.....
I would like to spend the winter making show carriers for chickens.(and turkeys, but that is another thread)
Here are some photos of carriers I have made or seen.. My issue is that I did not take messurements of...
I go outside and call "turkey, turkey, turkey" and they go off... love the sound!
Can't believe how much fun turkeys are! I have 2 Toms and three Jennies.
9 eggs in the bator for hatching right now.... I want more!!
Two are destined for Christmas dinner... My breeding trio is Beltville...
Have you got a top photo of the bird?
My Ameraucanas are so hard to sex until they are older... I bought 6 Ameraucanas that I was sure were pullets... got 2 cockerels... So, not a bad %, but, wow.... I was really suprised with these two guys.
Nice looking bird.... Good luck
Patricia
You are looking at a combination of things....
The move, a small move might be a week or two, but this is huge move... so maybe a month or two.. but combine that with the season?
I think that is it for your regular egg laying until spring.
Get a couple of ready to lay, under a year old...
That is a shame...
Don't lose heart, there are judges out there that will give you the kind of critique you are looking for.
Keep showing her she is a beautie!
