get i live trap......put tuna .....can cat food.....meat....eggs....for bait in the back of the trap...
cover the trap with an old sheet or blanket....so only the front is open where they would walk in....do this in the evening, and close your coop door to keep other animals out...once you trap...
if she isnt a bantam, im sure she will grow up fine...she just may be a little smaller...i just hatched chicks...big and small eggs....small and big chicks, from bigger eggs....2 weeks later you cant tell who the small one was!
wow!!!! sounds like a lot of fun there on your chicken ranch!!!....are you keeping all the chicks??....you must have tons of room!!!..wish i had your space!
i had a broody hen hatching in the main coop, also high up....i did let her hatch there....but soon as they were hatched, i moved them to another cage as i didnt want them to fall either...all went well...mom and chicks were in a cage that all the other hens could see and come and...
haaaa....if she is mean i would get rid of her Too!!!!....how are you trying to break her???.....this is how i break my broodys...and it has never let me down...the way to break her is to put her in cage off the ground...(set it on a table or something) away from the coop....(so she cant see the...
if she is still broody you should break her from being broody....and not let her sit anymore....even if she isnt sitting on anything....maybe some time alone will give her time to think about things, and be a better chicken!!!! :)
you can use a lid top from a jar for water while they are so small...(just make sure they always have water)...did you dip there beaks in it so they know how to drink??,,,,you could use the yellow top you have food in and get some else for the food....put some clean rocks or marbles to hold the...
sorry you had to go through that....my best success with hatching is with a broody hen....if you want to hatch every year, get a couple bantams.....they love to hatch!!!
your baby chicks are very sweet!...i hope they are all girls!!!
happy things are going well.....i cut watermelon into quarters....cut chunks and put in a container, then give all the rinds with a little red to the chickens...sometimes there is still some juice left, and they like that too!....frozen peas are a fun treat for them in the hot weather too!
once she breaks, she should start laying fairly soon.....it just depends how much she wants to hatch....she may be good for the rest of the season....and she may never go broody again....or she could go broody every year....i have a couple hens that go broody twice a season.....and i would start...
looks great!!!.... i wish you were here to help make me broody cages!!!!...its good to keep extra wood and wire...you never know when you need it!!!!...maybe sometime you will hatch, and then you will need to make chick cages!!!
bringing her inside isnt that big of a deal for the evening...keeping her safe is most important....just keep her in the cage...and then be sure to put her back out in the morning....she would eventually break being in the cage if she is near or in the coop....it just take longer...thats why i...
