About two weeks ago our rooster was killed. We have 17 hens and went from a dozen eggs a day down to one a day in the last week. Is there a connection between losing the rooster and the drop in egg production? Should we replace the rooster?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try the water squirt and have been feeding them, but not by hand. I will give that a shot too. We just acquired 12 baby hens that we need to join in with the others. I am curious to see how the roo welcomes them, or not. Have a great week!
mine have feed available 24/7 and we get feed from same feed mill to my knowledge. I may have gone to TSC in a pinch cuz I didn't realize we were that low on feed. It could be protein content in different feed?
I have 20 meat birds obtained at the same time as our neighbor got hers. Same shipment, etc... Her birds are outside and weigh roughly twice what mine do. Mine are kept inside in an unused horse stall. Does being outside have that much effect on weight gain/growth? I am afraid mine won't make...
