Thanks, cowchipss! I haven't found that they are more chatty or louder than other breeds. I keep mostly dual purpose birds, and compared to them, Cream Legbars have a more flighty personality. That's the main difference I've noticed. They are still my favorite breed, however, because they are...

NPIP Cert. Ancona Duck Hatching Eggs - $2.50 each

I have never had an aggressive duck. If you spend time socializing with them as ducklings, they are quite friendly. I have four children of my own and they go in and out of the duck pen all the time. Anconas do not fly (although I have had one who was prone to fly out of her 6 ft tall pen and...

Congrats! I love my Anconas. They do keep a pattern, though it will change as they get older and their feathers grow in. For example, one of my chocolate Anconas was named Chubby checker because she had a very checkered pattern when she hatched. Now as an adult her markings aren't so spotty...

My female runner has spots on her beak! What is this?!

Perhaps this from the Metzer Farms FAQ page will help: "What causes the black spots on my duck's bill? Black spots on the bill and legs are due to melanin skin pigment. They are normally present (not harmful) but are covered with yellow colored xanthophyll pigment absorbed from feeds...

    Cream Legbars

I have only dealt with 6 CL chicks, so take this with a grain of salt: Sometimes. My two cockerels had two types of down. They both look the same. The cockerel with the darker down may have a bit of red to him, but not much. Of my four pullets, three had similar down and one was very light...

    Cream Legbars

Thank you! I'm raring to get started, but have to wait until we get our barn built. The contractor was out last week and said it probably won't be until early spring. Since we butchered our layer flock's rooster today, we thought about integrating the CL rejects soon.
