Thanks Hechicken. The neighborhood dogs make more noise than three or four hens. I had neighbors that did not realize I had three hens for almost a year. Funny to think that during and after WWII the government wanted every household to have chickens, lol.
Hello from city limits of Dodge City. Wish someone would wake up this city to the joy of chicken keeping. If my health permitted I would try and do something. Would love a few ladies again. Lived in a small town in Michigan where they allowed chickens. Miss them
When I lived in Michigan I had an Omlet Go and loved it. I had three chickens. They made it through the winters without issue. I had portable fencing that I would let them out in for most of the day. It was so easy to clean. I moved and can't have chickens so sold it. If I can ever have...

My three do the very same thing. Each day it gets a little later and usually on the fourth day they take a day of rest and then the next day it is once again bright and early that they lay.

I am very sorry, but it will not be cheaper making this bread. The reason is that it is soooooo good that you will be making 10x the bread you would normally eat!!!
I retired from nursing in Feb and had a pair of clark mules that I wore - got chickens in Aug, so I wear my old clarks since I had only used them for work. They are easy to slip on and off and I only wear them now for chickens.
Yay Chicks! :
Yum. I love making beer bread, but I use self rising flour as well. I like to use a Porter or even darker beer. I pour a lot of melted butter over the top and also top it with sesame seeds and poppy seeds. Because the darker beer makes the bread darker, it looks healthier...

It is heavenly - I like it much better than fruit cake, which I like very much. I have had to force myself not to make it throughout the year and only save it for Christmas. Let me know how you like it if you make it.
Last year an 85 year old friend of mine gave me her mother's jam cake recipe. Her mother made this instead of fruit cake. I love fruit cake so I thought I would give this a try. It is wonderful and I will always make this now instead of my old fruit cake recipe. Hope you all enjoy this...
I know nothing of electric fencing, but I did clip one wing on each of my three hens. The very first day that I put my moveable fencing up my Isa Brown flew right over it. I went on youtube and found a few on clipping wings. It was very simple. I have not had any other attempts of flying...
I have two Black Marans that were born the middle of March and started laying on Oct 21, and have given me a total of 20 eggs. My Isa Brown was born sometime in April and has not started to lay yet.
I don't have a cube but an eglu go. This is my first winter. I have had the eglu go since August 9th. I really like the go. It is so easy to clean. I have two Black Marans and and Isa Brown. I think the hens like it too. I say that because my Marans just started laying Oct 21st and in...

I would love to post pictures of both the girls and their eggs but I do not have a cell phone or a digital camera. My daughter said I need to come out of the dark ages! I just went from dial up to high speed in July - these things take time for us in our 60's.
