I get some different ones. Sometimes I get 7-way scratch from my local feed & seed that gets it from a local feed mill. I think it's the one that says "Fighten' Scratch" on it.

My hubby got 3-way scratch the last time he got it.

I think they even have a 9-way scratch but not sure what's all in it.

I have gotten a scratch that has BOSS in it but don't remember what it was called.

Sometimes I get the Purina Scratch Grains. How many grains does it have in it & what. It doesn't seem to have millet in it. Looks like corn, wheat maybe & not sure what else. ??

I will get the 'Fightin' scratch' it has lots of millet in it. It really depends on the brand, I read the labels or ask the guy selling it to me. I he doesn't have what I usually buy he will discount what I choose. Love those old fashion feed stores, who load the sacks for ya. Last time I went to the 'Tractor supply' they did not even offer to load it for me and I bought 150 of feed! Won't go back there. (only in case of emergency) I Like the seven way scratch with sunflower seeds....

Yeah, my two local feed stores load it in your car for ya. My local TSC does NOT take it to your car & mine doesn't even have a place to put your buggy....you are supposed to go back in the store & put it up after loading up a bunch of feed.

I think a top quality scratch mix, with 6 or 7 grains would be great. Still, read the label to see how much total protein it offers. Cheapo 3 grain scratch feed typically only has 8% protein. I refuse to pay $10 for a bag of 3 grain scratch. Simply not enough nutrition bang for the buck, imho.

I use a locally milled scrathch called "Booster Rooster". IMO it is one of the best mixes of scratch that I have found. The really great part about it is that it is only 10.00 for a 50 lb bag. I think it has like 12 grains in it.

That may be similar to what I got one time from a local feed & seed, which was from a local mill. It was called "Poultry Power". It looked like it had several grains in it. It had BOSS in it too. I think it was only $9 or $10.

I use a gamebird feed called Black Rooster as my scratch.

I got a 10 lb bag of locally milled stuff yesterday. It looks like corn, wheat, and some other grain I can't identify, and also got 5 lb of oats to mix in. The girls love it especially when I add BOSS. They (there are eight) get about 1 cup of the scratch and 1 cup of BOSS. I'm also flying by the seat of the pants, but they are healthy and give me 7 or 8 eggs a day.
