Thanks. Hmmm. I suppose I should take out the 5gal waterer and put the lil chick ones back in..... they are 4 weeks though and dont think they can even get both feet in there if they wanted to. One thing I just did was open the whole coop up to them (4x8) put the roost down (its on hinges)...

I have the new coop boxed off for the new peeps.. though here it is. The roost is hanging from celing for now to keep out of the way, put it on hinges.

I just put my little thermometer in the pine shavings under light...they peck at it a lil but they seemed to stop now. I have more of an issue keepin a constant temperature (I have em in new coop outside) between night and day...too cold or too hot. Added 2nd 250w lamp and seems to work better...
May be dumb question, though we are newbies. We have the brooder out in the new coop and the light attracts a ton of insects which they are having a blast chasing down, fighting over and eating. Are they ok at this age (peeps less than week old) to fill up on bugs and eat less chick feed...
