    I use the deep litter method so I just turn over the area with a pitch fork every couple of days. But I have only been doing this for about 4 months so we shall see what works...the ammonia smell will likely dictate the changes.

    Not sure of their ages exactly. I think some are about 7 months old at the oldest, while a few are younger, maybe 2-3 months old (they are smaller and friendlier...to me...not the other chickens..

    I have a fake owl sitting over my garden. Looks nice but doesn't seem to scare anything. I had to build a supermax prison like run for my birds...way to many predators here...hawks...owls...eagles...bear...coyotes...dogs...cats..possum...etc.
