Thank you all for your suggestions! I know we deff need ventilation. I'm thinking about cutting some of the wood out of the top sides of the coop, adding hindges and screen behind it. That way I can still close it up when it rains/snows...sound like a good idea? And suggestions on roosting...

So is it better to use sand for on the ground of the coop then? I'm a new chicken owner and have not heard of using sand. Sounds like a good idea. Could you just scoop the "litter" then? Like you would a cat box? lol

I'm a new. Just signed up, but have used backyard chickens many times while researching about them on google. I have 2 Americaunas, 2 Silver Laced Wydottes, and 1 Barred Rock/Leghorn Cross. I got them in May of this year. This is my first time raising chickens. I <3 them!
