Can I feed layer pellets to my 9 week old Buff Orps

Funny... because I'm in the same situation. In this case, I suggest you feed everyone "Growers Pellet", which is what I'm doing atm. Only problem is you have thin egg shells overtime and this could be dangerous if the eggs break inside the Hen. I have posted something 1-2 weeks ago and some...

Can I feed layer pellets to my 9 week old Buff Orps

Layer pellets should only be feed from 18 weeks onward when the hens about to lay their eggs. If anytime earlier this could result in internal organ damage due to the high calcium. If I was in this situation, I would feed starter pellets until the point of laying then switch to laying pellets.

mix flock of layers & growers - how to feed shell grit?

Yeah I thought about that one too but what about the growering chickens? they will still be able to reach the feeder. Will calcium damage growing chickens internal development if they were age 2 months+ or are they smart enough to eat it if they "need" it at this age?

Taste of organic eggs vs normal

The organic egg yolk is more sticky when simi-cooked and taste alot better than the store bought egg. However, when hard boiled I can't tell the different in taste apart from the colour of the Yolk being more orange for the organic egg. I did read on the net that the organic eggs contains 1/3...

    Hen or Rooster behaviour

Thanks for the reply ella but i think there's some misunderstanding... its not the "angry" bok bok BOK! bok bok BOK! sound but its the soft and rapid sound like what hens do b4 they lay the egg. It goes like this: BOK.... bok bok bok... BOK.... bok bok bok..... If that make sense? LOL

    Foster Mom?

I don't see why not... its worth a try I got one RIR hen who hatched out 2x chicks but she wasn't a good mother and abandon her chicks at only 5 weeks of age. My batam hen who I let her hatched 8x RIR standard baby chicks three weeks later than the RIR mother hen took these two baby in without...
