    Yes, I am sure she is a girl. The reason I noticed the spurs to begin with was I had to "cage" her for a few days because she was "brooding." She is about 2-3 years old. Probably one of the remaining original chickens that I started with. Maybe the spurs start developing once the egg laying...

    Hen with spurs!

    Has anyone else seen this happen? I have a hen that has spurs that are about a half inch or so long. I see "buttons" on the legs of other hens but this hen does have actual spurs! They are Ameriacana/Rhode Island red mixed chickens.

    Not sure how to answer a reply but I have Rhode Island Red/Arraconda (sic) mix chickens. Yes, I have mutt chickens just like my dogs are mutts too. Plus I have 4 Bobwhite Quail chicks. Lucky for us they have turned out to be 3 girls and boy.
