I do not know which breed lays the biggest eggs, but i do know RIRs are very consistent brown egg layers. The best broody hen that i know of is the BOs.

I agree trying to pick breeds is hard. I would definitely go with orpingtons. Wyandottes are also a good choice. These 2 breeds are great especially if you want some hardy layers. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I think my least favorite chicken breed would probably have to be Turkens. I know they have good egg production, but I just can't do the whole naked neck look.
Our chickens have names based on personality, breed, and coloring. I named all our SLW after flowers. My fav is "Lily." Our EE's are "Bunny" and "Lady Hawk."
