This egg was laid, boiled and peeled all in the same day *PIC*

My friends keep telling me to steam them, either in a steamer on the stove or in one of those vegetable steamers. She swears they come out perfect.

    Molting in Winter?

A couple of my girls have lost all of their neck feathers, and my Roo looks like he is shedding. While talking to my Vet she said it was because of the artificial daylight. She asked me if I wanted the birds for pets or as production chickens for their eggs? My answer was pets and the eggs are...

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Don't know, kind of new to the chicken thing. I've seen other posts where a BCM is laying huge eggs. I have 3 BCMs and one of them lays a double almost every day. They, the three of them look so much alike I'm not sure which gal is doing it. I hope shee keeps it up.

My Maran is finally laying....XXXL Jumbo's!!

I get a gigantic egg each day from one of my Black Copper Marans. The ones that I have cooked have all been double yolkers. In the beginning I thought it was because she was a new layer, but she has consistently been laying them, I'm beginning to think that she may continue to lay them, at least...

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

To clip or not to clip - that is the question

Clip their wings. I clipped one wing on each of my birds and now they don't get out of the run until I let them out. It's easy to do with two people. I do it at dusk when they all go in to roost. It's much easier to pick them off their roost and clip their feathers at dusk. Have a partner hold...

    Finally...eggs

I'm with you on that threat. Might rename some of my chickens 'STEW'. One maybe two of my EEs just started laying. I got them in May as chicks it's been a long wait. Either my Welsummers started to lay again (they must have thought they were on vacation) or I have a Black Copper Marans that...

Pic's of the new girls, and maybe help ID'ing my wildcard chick?

I love my EEs, very frendly, but tend to fly over my 6 foot fence. Not a problem as they free range most of the time anyway. My Roo is just the nicest boy. Hopefully he will stay that way or as the ten year old says "he will be 'Stew'."

    I need ideas for hiding spots . . .

I found that the bigger the run/area the chickens have, the less problems I have. They don't seem to chase each other to far but in a small enclosed area there is almost no place for them to escape.

First time building a Coop !! Help need ideas !

I'm new here, but this is what I have done for my roosts. At first I used 2 x 4s on edge spaced 6 inches apart. This worked great. I also kept them about 6 inches from the walls. This kept all the poo off the walls and off each of the roost boards. After reading on here about making roosts...
