My chickens all seem to be gaping. I have one hen who has done it since I got her three years ago and I didn't think anything of it. I figured it was some kind of habit but now it seems that more and more of my chickens are doing it. What could it be? At first I suspected gape worm but I read...
One of mine had a crooked toe when it was younger. I used like a popsicle stick and then taped it around the toe. I think you have to do it when they are very young though. You could still try it and see if it gets fixed. I'm no expert :/ Has it always been crooked?
I bought her in the summer of 2009. She hasn't layed for a year at least, I'm guessing. I was guessing she's just old but the stool is green/yellow and runny.
My hen Athena has been acting strange lately. I noticed that she has a lot of poop on the feathers by her vent. She's been getting kinda of depressed looking. I thought at first it was the heat so I brought her inside but today it is cooled off and she's acting like that again. She still goes...

Hi! I also have a male and female silkie! We keep ours with the other hens and they do fine. I actually think it'd better that one of yours is a male, because he'll probably stand up to the hens. And my silkie has been with his girl his whole life and he protects her from the bigger hens. I...
I love my red stars. They're great! But there are a lot of other breeds out there that lay nice eggs too. My Barred Rock does and my Welsummer lays dark brown eggs everyday! And I had some white leghorns that layed eggs every day!
