I have a blue/black/splash pen of silkies and have been breeding for a few years. Then I recently got a new blue rooster and the first chick I hatched from h was odd.
It was a yellowish white chick with a big bluish spot on it.
And this is how he looks now:
I figured he would be a splash...
Please help!
This silkie chick is about a week old and it's right eye is enlarged and cloudy and watering. Any ideas what could have caused this and is there anything I can do?
No they were from my own turkeys and I'm pretty sure they're done laying for the season. Maybe next year.
And thank you I might check that out. I have a lot more luck with chicken eggs. Turkeys though...
I've had trouble hatching any of my Royal palm turkey eggs but I finally got one to term.
Unfortunately, yesterday which was day 27, someone locked my cats in my room and they knocked over the incubator. I came home to this and quickly put the incubator back together and put the egg back in...
I was wondering if some of them might be crosses since I was having a hard time pinning down breeds too. If that's the case that's pretty disappointing. Especially since these came from TSC and thus a hatchery.
So I've got some young bantams that I'm just puzzled over what breed they are. Maybe someone can help me out please?
The buffy colored ones in the last two seem to have rose combs but the rest are single.
Okay so they are older now and here are some pics!
Mottled Japanese Bantam maybe?
Porcelain Dutch?
Blue laced red Wyandotte?
No clue on this one.
What do you guys think?
It would be nice to have a d'uccle but yeah I don't think I got that lucky. I will be taking more pictures when they gave feathers so hopefully it'll be easier to tell then. I'm just so eager to know what I have!
I bought six chicks at tractor supply to keep my line silkie chick company. One of them I already know is a silkie but I'm not so sure on the other five. Please help?
Can't see it very well in the picture but seems to be a self blue/lavender color?
Seems to be white except it's got a black...
Okay I called them and they said they didn't do a stain on it so they don't know. They said it could be either one with the type of bacteria it was. Hyper something.
But they would have to have done a culture to know for sure. Which they didn't.
And he's on Clavamox and Metacam.
