Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

LOL! I've spent way too much time reading this thread. Some of these are so funny. Lucky for me I haven't had any ridiculous questions. I have come across a few people who love our chicken eggs or chicken eggs in general but refuse to even try a duck egg because they "come out of a duck's butt."...

    Sour Crop CURED with Monistat

Oh... I'm really sorry to hear that. What have you all tried feeding her? Or won't she eat anything? When one of our hens had sour crop really bad we fed her a mixture of yogurt (with live cultures), scrambled eggs and olive oil.

    Sour Crop CURED with Monistat

I wish I could help but I used the stuff in the tube. I wonder if you could crush it up and put it in some eggs or yogurt, or whatever you're feeding her right now. That's what I did with the cream.

    Sour Crop CURED with Monistat

We used the cream and mixed it in her yogurt, eggs and EVOO. Never had a problem with her eating it this way. Good luck!

5-6 year old Polish hen going blind? Pupils gray

There's a total of 6 hatchmates and the other 4 are fine. Would they all have it? And how would I go about finding out if that's what the other two have? Is a vet my only option?

    Why are my chickens dying?

Oh no! That's terrible! :( I really have no idea and hope someone can help you soon. Are there any plants nearby that they could be eating that could be poisonous to birds? I know there's quite a few out there that you wouldn't expect to be a problem. Are there any symptoms at all?

5-6 year old Polish hen going blind? Pupils gray

I have the same problem with one of my hens. She's only 5 months old. Number 1 and 2 sound exactly like hers. No bald spots and she hasn't laid any eggs yet. One of her hatchmates is also blind out of just one eye. So I'm wondering if in my case it was genetic?

Black Copper Maran Rooster (French Style)

We live in Michigan near Standish and my husband works a lot in Bay City/Auburn/Essexville and Saginaw. We are looking for good homes for two Black Copper Maran Roosters (French Style). They were born March 11, 2012. We just have too many roosters right now to keep them all. We're asking for...

    List of egglaying factors

We use the BRAGG Organic (raw and unfiltered) ACV with the "mother" in it. We found a 16 oz glass jar at Kroger for $4 and some change. But Walmart carries it now in a much bigger jar and it's only $3 and some change. I've read to put one tablespoon per gallon. It's good for quite a few things...

    Blind Chicken

It was gradual. One of her hatch mates are blind out of their left eye. I searched a lot online and just about everything said that they would be scratching their eyes, and that their eyes would be runny and swollen and so far none of those are the case. I'll have to search other causes and...

    Blind Chicken

It appears one of our girls are blind. Both of her eyes have the cataracts look and she acts like she can barely see. I was just wondering, has anyone else had this problem and if so, do you have any pointers/suggestions?

    Sour Crop CURED!!

I wanted to share this with everyone. One of our Black Copper Maran chicks had a bad case of sour crop. I'm pretty sure we tried every thing we found, minus cutting her open, and nothing worked. Massaging her crop and making her regurgitate was the only thing that helped a little bit. Even...

Someone please help. Chicken can't stand, won't eat or drink, breathing heavy.

Well, I may have jumped the gun on our chicken. (I'm hoping.) This morning when I first went outside, one of our Pekins was just laying there. I brought her inside and she will only stand on one leg. So her and my chicken are currently resting in the bathroom. Our Pekin started quacking a little...

Someone please help. Chicken can't stand, won't eat or drink, breathing heavy.

There's something wrong with one of my Buff Orpington hens. I went outside to feed them scratch and all of the birds, except for one, started eating it right away. The one who didn't was just laying outside. I first thought she was laying on an egg so I picked her up (she didn't fuss at all and...

Suddenly can't stand or move, in pain

How's your chicken doing? I'm having about the same problem with one of mine. She can't stand, her eyes seem dilated, she's breathing hard, but mine won't eat or drink and I have no idea what's wrong! I hope yours is doing better.

Something to make you drool for Summer..

Thanks for this post... definitely didn't need it at all... Jerk. I was just talking/trying to bribe my husband into getting some more babies today. What's one extra month? Lol. But we're going to wait... *sighs*

I hate raccoons. My poor Rouen and Pekin. :(

Thank you for the responses. We ended up keeping her in our bathroom for a couple of days. Then moved her to the hallway near our garage. We also brought our other two ducks in to make sure there wasn't any problems and because our hallway is cooler, we didn't want to move her from a 60 degree...
