iv read the temp range is 98.5 to 100,iv made an incubator which i believe is at 100 right now at EGG level,how much can it vary,i can watch it during the day but what about night when the the temp drops outside.we have an old farm house and its NOT 72 degrees in here at night.were trying to...
i have a digital thermometer and humidity thing but id like to find one that is more accurate than plus or minus 1.8 degrees.i looked on ebay most all are the same.
if we order chicks now do we just keep them in a heated pen till spring,we wanted to have them by christmas so the grand kids could see them and also so that we would have eggs as soon as possible.

we only have two hens,and i dont know as much as i should.if i let our eggs hatch do we have to seperate them from the rooster and hens.we just have a fenced in area about 10 by 10 and the coop.i do have a pretty big cage setup thats divided into 3 compartments would that be of any help?

i know nothing about chickens,iv been using straw for thier bedding,should i be using something different?and by the way what in the @#$% is a poop tray,i built them a really cool coop but no one told me about a poop tray.
iv had them on constantly for about two weeks now,i dont think theres enough heat there to start a fire.but should i just turn them off completely or put em on a timer.there not heat lamps just regular 60 watt bulbs.
i have a 60 watt light on each end of our coop which is 4ft long and 2ft deep for a rooster and two hens,should i leave the lights on all the time when its cold.were in central indiana and lately its been getting down to 18 or so at night.
