Well, I have a little GLW that has decided she wants to be a mama! My question is: how long after an egg is laid does she need to sit on it? I have some Easter Eggers that laid earlier in the day, but I didn't get them under her until around 7:00 this evening. Should they be okay, or do I need...
Is there someone you know that can go get the chicks if you can't before the post office closes? Also, is there a feed & seed store that will let you set up a store credit account? Some local stores will let you do that. Good luck and keep everyone posted! :D
The coop is looking good! I am planning on implementing the Silveira coop/garden this year and am very excited about it. Keep the pics coming and good luck!
Welcome aboard! To me, looking in that nest box is like the adult version of Christmas! It's always exciting and a feeling more people need to experience!! :D
That's what I thought/think as well! When I did a search on black rocks I found some info. from the UK and Scotland and they look a lot like my hen minus the comb.
Black Sex-link designed for egg laying? Sounds good to me! She's been cranking out almost an egg a day and is a very gentle gal. The black rock I was referring to is actually the offspring of a RIR rooster and barred Plymouth Rock hen.
So, any guesses on what this little lady is? Her feathers look like a black rock to me, but her comb does not. From what I've read, the true black rock strains are from Scotland.
