Of the 26 chicks I ordered from McMurray last week only one survived. The order was lost in the mail and arrived 2 days late.
One chick survived and is doing well. They are sending me another 28 chicks which should arrive tomorrow, fingers crossed.
Is it OK to keep the week old chick in with the new chicks?
This is my first time with chickens since I was a small child on my grandparents farm.

Thanks.

I bet it would be just fine. I'm sorry to hear you lost all those chicks. I lost 2 and got mine last week and it was so Trimble I could imagine finding a box of dead chicks. Oh man. But I think the week old chick should be fine with the newbies. They aren't that big at 1 week.

I think you will be ok to mix them. I have a new baby in with 4 chicks that are 2 weeks old, the baby just keeps to herself and the others dont bother with her. Im sorry to hear about your shipment, hopefully it doesnt happen again.

I hatch chicks every week and will often move a few chicks from the previous weeks hatch in with the new babies. I find the older ones will help the new babies to find the food and water.

Everybody will be just fine at those ages.

I wouldn't worry about that either. Sounds like it is the best route to take for the "little survivor". You'll need to give that chick a special name for it's survivability. Good luck with the new batch coming.
