    Naked Necks - started laying at 4 months, laid all winter(a dozen a day), now molting and we are now back up to 12 one day and 8 or 9 the next. The are now a year old. Proud mama of 19 hens. Ugly, but good.

    my 20 nn were supposed to lay an egg 2 to 3 times a week and they are dual purpose (larger) hens. well, they started laying at 4 months and now at 6 months i am being gifted over a dozen a day. it is below freezing at night, but no slow up. need recipes that use up lots of eggs please.

    congratulations. we were just gifted by our first egg last week and have been getting on every other day. don't know which of our 20 4 1/2 mo. old hens is mommy. eggs are light brown and still small. we do know it is a nn.

    We are getting wooly caterpillers - we see them only when the winter is cold and wet. Our nights are in the low 40's and in some places in our state the nights are below freezing.

    naked neck turkens are med to large egg layers and lay about 180 eggs a year, i think. i have 20 hens that are just 16 weeks old. they are very social and all want to be petted. also have 5 roos. am rehoming 2 of them this week, i hope.
