One of my chickens laid something like that also. I asked about it and was told it is called a "fart egg". They said that it happens sometimes in the beginning when the hens first start laying their eggs.
So the other day I went out to see if there were any eggs in the box, and yep I got 2!! I picked one up and it felt like a water balloon, It did not have an outer shell... I have 3 chickens so I am guessing that egg came from the chicken who I think has not laid an egg yet and that maybe...
hahahah.. I too was wondering why one of my hens was doing that everytime I go out to the coop to give them some goodies.. I don't know if i should be flattered or annoyed that she thinks I look like a roo..
sorry I had another question. My hens are laying sometime during the day when I am not home. My daughter has been collecting the few that have been laid, but now she is on vacation. It is suppose to be over 100 again today and I won't be getting home from work until at least 530. Will the...
Hi, my chickens started laying eggs on July 1st, so I went out and bought layer feed. They don't seem to like it as much as what they were on before. Should I be worried that they won't eat, or will the eventually get hungry enough and eat it?
I ran out after work yesterday and purchased a nesting box, and some layer feed for the hens. I read somewhere on here that you need to wait a few days/egg lays after putting the hens on layer feed before you should eat the eggs. I think it had something to do with the vitamins that are added...
thanks for the help. to be honest I am not sure what kind of chickens they are.. I don't want to sound stupid, but when I bought them at Tractor Supply the sign said "sexed Pullets" Is a Pullet a bread or just a general term? When I got them they were cute yellow fluffy things, and now one...
I purchased my chicks on March 16 of this year. I wasn't expecting them to start laying until maybe August, but I found two eggs in the coop last night!! they were so small and cute. My question/problem is, I have not purchased a box yet for them to lay their eggs in. Is it too late to get...
Hi, I was hoping I could find a few people on here that are from Fairview, TN. I have 3 hens but recently found out that I can not have chickens in the area of town I live in. I am going to head over to zoning on Friday so I can find out the reasons why. If anyone is interested in helping me...
How fresh were the eggs? I think you need to let them sit in the fridge for a while before boiling them. I am told that fresh eggs are hard to peel. My hens have not started laying yet so hopefully someone has a better answer for you.
I will be illegal as soon as I get my chickens. I want to try to have the city ordinance changed. the thing that drives me crazy is that I live less than a 1/4 mile into the city limits on a 1/2 acre. Once my coop is built I am going to put large shrubs and flowers around it so hopefully it...
