Mama hen should hatch her 3 eggs June 11th. I have her in a good size cage 4 feet off ground with ramp & door. My question is: once they've hatched, do I remove hatching box nest? Put down the shavings, chick water & feeder, for how many days? Thanks guys, my 1st time

Also, I got 6 fertilized eggs from a friend but now there are only 3. Going out tonight to candle the eggs on day 5 & to see if their are veins inside & make sure the 3 are still there.

I am in a new experiment. My broody hen has been moved to a secure large cage all by herself with food & water. She was pissed for the 1st hour but has settled in nicely. I'm hoping to have a couple of chicks on June 11th, the 21 day hatch time.

I have the 6 fertile eggs now in a nice nesting box & her in a separate enclosure and she is PISSED. Will wait for tonight to make sure she is on that nest. I hope anyway...
