    Ratio of male to female

Thank you. Funny enough we have not had any problems with the drakes. There is obviously the ring leader, who has a great personality and the others just seem to follow. I just really feel sorry for the poor female who is getting all the attention. I think we need to buy some more females to...

    Salmonella

Thanks, I always insist that all involved with any of the animals wash their hands thoroughly. Everyone loves the chickens and wants to look after them so i make it a golden rule. No one leaves without doing so. lol.

    Salmonella

Thanks for the advice. Really was not sure wether they were to be done again or not. Many people breed chickens just as a hobby in their gardens and they are fine but just wanted to check. Thanks again for the info.

    Salmonella

Hi all, i am hoping this is the right place to post. When i brought my hens they had been vaccinated against salmonella. Can anyone tell me if this is a one off vaccination or do you have to repeat every year? Just thinking about the eggs and people eating them. May sound a silly question but...

Sadly last night we lost the last duckling that hatched. The other 4 are very happy and healthy looking. The one we lost was obviously behind the others and a lot smaller. We could not get it to eat or drink and we tried so hard. It was making so much noise in the end to get back to the...

Hi all, I have 3 sussex in 1 coop. The ring leader is very healthy however she is plucking the feathers from the other 2. These 2 have no feathers underneath or round their backside. They are very alert and have great coombs and do not seem to be ill at all. I have thought of taking the...
