It's ok. I figured it out.....Here is my poor boy. The photo is a bit bright in the area of swelling, but his eye is almost closed permenantly and there is a bit of swelling directly under his eye too. If anyone can help I would be most grateful...
I thought of that, but the swelling is so severe that i couldn't do it without causing damage to the eye. I have tried relieving the swelling with a pin but all that comes out is a drop or two of blood and it doesn't seem to make any difference. The lump is also quite hard.
Could be a bite but I would assume it would have swollen a lot quicker and he would be a little sick if it was a spider. I have done a little looking up as to wattle deseases, but the ones I have found seem to include both wattles and he only has a problem with one. I would normally not be so...
I have a 1 year old frizzle rooster and I noticed a few days ago that one of his wattles had a stone sized lump at its base. I came out this morning and saw that his wattle had swollen futher and turned black where the lump had began. It is now swollen to the point of his eye closing. He seems...
Thank you Gumpsgirl. I hate it too. Particularly after spending so much time trying to help her. I tend to get more attached to the sick/troubled ones.
Bad news all! The poor little chick died over night. I felt horrid, but at least I tried everything I could I suppose. Thank you all who posted for giving it a chance anyway.
Well it is now 1pm on day 22 and still no chirping or pipping going on. I will check them once more this afternoon then again tommorrow. If there is no sign of pipping I might have to crack one open and have a gander! (Hopefully they will pip overnight)
Oh, ok. What exactly is the bloom and how does it protect from bacteria? I definitly havn't washed them so I hope they are just a day late.
Thank you all. x
LOL!!! I don't think a dog of that size would fit under my little bantam girl! And if for some reason it did there would not be much left of the poor dear after detonation. Nearly wet myself when I read that! Hilarious Dane_mom!
Yes it is horrid. I have been so excited about them hatching! I...
Oh, how exciting! I currently have my muscovy sitting on 12 eggs! But im only on day 13....Oh, the pain of waiting.
Muscovys tend to drag it out more than other ducks. I would wait until day 38 as you said. It can't hurt any waiting an extra couple of days.
I have a broody and her eggs are due to hatch today. Two days ago I checked the eggs under her and noticed they really stunk. Came to the conclution that one had rotted and exploded under her. I candled the remaining eggs and could see air cell and mass of chick in all. As they are due to hatch...
Thank you all for your insightful input. I have tried the vit E for last few days but she seems to have worsened. When i started the E she was just looking down and to the right a little, now she is running backwards, falling over and head is between legs. I will give the massage a go and see...
I have hatched a batch of 17 silkie chicks. One of them is holding its head slightly twisted to the right. It seems healthy in every other way and is eating and drinking fine. Does anyone know what this is and if i can do anything to help it?
I have two silkies and two frizzle bantams hatched out and seven more pips a waiting!
Really want to post piks but can't work out how. Can someone give me some instructions. Ta. Much appreciated.
No piks yet. Just had the first one hatch. She is a beautiful lavender frizzle! Have eight more pips now. It's 11 pm here and I know I really should go to bed but my excitment won't let me. I can picture myself falling asleep in my chair in front of the bator! lol.
Know what you mean about the...
