I'd like to know the thought process that led to it....hhhmmmmmmmmmmm, I've got this magnet just hanging around, there must be something I can do with it.....
Hi,
Does anyone here in Mass have Silkie hens for sale? We're looking for 3 or 4 hens, 3-4 months old to replenish our little flock. FOXES!!! We live on the Cape and wouldn't mind a little road trip....
Thanks,
Bob
Hi, We're looking for some Silkie hens to replace what some foxes took from us. We lost 1 rooster and 3 hens a couple of weeks ago. We have 1 Silkie rooster left, he seems to be adjusting to life with our remaining 7 birds. The problem is this winter. I don't think he'll be roosting with the...
We lost 4 Silkies to some foxes a couple of weeks ago. We have 1 white Silkie rooster left, about 4 months old, who has eyes for the biggest hen in our little group of 8. She's a large white rock, who doesn't appreciate his attention. She's about 3 months old. It's some good humor watching him...
I chopped up honeydew, grapes, green beans, and added blueberries, tossed them into quart-sized ziplock bags and froze them. Now I pull out a bag and give it to my girls during the heat of the day.
We just tried one of these. The chickens seem to like it, but we're not crazy about it. It smells kind of sharp, like vinegar. It also kills the grass it sits on.....
My thoughts...there's always a chance that the seller has something going on in their day to day that is taking all their attention. It could be anything. Death in the family, accident, etc. I would email several times, try to call, and document it all. Give it a week or so, then tell him you're...
Well, we had our first loss today. Our flock of 14 were wandering around in the yard, and 2 foxes swooped in and went through them like butter. They killed 4 out of our 5 Silkies, leaving a rooster. He's really going to be miserable, those 5 were like a little gang. They were always together...
I LOVE your coop! Great imagination all around. And thanks for getting the pix bigger. The thumbnails definitely didn't do your coop justice.
My post was intended for beeliz and her hex/octagon coop.
We're in the process of building our coop, and want to know if we should install a whirlygig on the roof. Our coop is 10 x 10, with 4 windows that will be left open most of the year. It also has narrow openings around the tops of the 4 walls where the rafters sit. These will be open all year...
Welcome to BYC from a fellow Cape Codder, Marstons Mills. We're just starting out, in the process of coop building as we speak. We have 9, 1 week old chicks, various breeds, and 5 Silkies which are about 4 weeks old. One of which is a rooster. He's pretty comical.
Well, we're out the door to...
We tried giving it some honey/water, she didn't seem to take it. She just lays down, pretty much sprawled, her beak opening and closing, eyes closed.
Any thoughts?
We have some 4 day old BO's. One had pasty butt yesterday which was cleaned up, that went well. This morning the same bird (we think) is very lethargic and seems to have labored breathing. We tried to get her to drink and eat. She might have taken a couple of sips, but no food. She just wants to...
