HELP - huge lump on chicken, very lethargic

Thank you....it is an impacted crop. I've never seen/had this problem before so it really freaked me out. I ended up taking her to the emergency vet and they wanted $1000 for crop surgery. I can afford it but I would really rather not have to. They gave her fluids at the vets and I brought...

HELP - huge lump on chicken, very lethargic

I came home from work today and noticed Olive my Araucana was very lethargic. She's standing with her eyes closed, feet are really cold and didn't mind when I picked her right up. She hasn't laid eggs in a while and I noticed a massive lump on her breast area when I picked her up...it feels...

Too Roo or Not to Roo?

The first time I ordered chicks, I thought the same thing. It would be really nice to have a roo :-) I asked for one, and ended up with three! Sexing is not entirely accurate, so in spite of not asking for one you just might be surprised. I had eight hens between two standard roos and one...

    Dog and chicks

The first time I had chickens, my dog went nuts. He is a six year old, very intelligent german shepherd. He was so insanely jealous of them. He goes outside to his huge kennel during the day, and is inside with us in the evening and at night. We decided to use his old puppy crate for the...

    My chicks are here!

They arrived this morning The post office called me at 9:30 and I zipped on over to pick them up. They said they attempted delivery at 8:30 but I never heard a doorbell. I thought that was a bit strange as I've never heard of chicks being delivered to the doorstep . Anyhooz, they were all...

That looks really nice! I also can't swallow the big price tag on the ready made coops, especially the ones suitable for housing more than 4-5 chickens. I have 12 chicks coming and am looking to build something myself as well (or perhaps have one built given my inexperience in carpentry) :-)

Awwww what a cutie! My order should be coming in this week from Healthy Chicks and More...and even though I almost certainly know they will send me a cockerel, it's so hard to resist checking that "Free Rare Breed Chick" box :-) Last time I ended up with a banty roo, I have no idea what breed...

Hi! New member in Massachusetts :-)

Hi Everyone! I'm not entirely new to chickens but I'm new here :-) I've been lurking for a while now so I thought I should join and make my introductions. I had chickens a few years ago but had to rehome them due to a move. I missed them so much I ordered myself some more this year. The...
