I can post a picture tomorrow. They are still raw. I can't get them sufficiently wrapped so that she will leave it on, but I will continue with the Betadine rinses, and have given her colloidal silver. She is in a large tote with a heat lamp in the garage for now.
Upon close investigation, it appears her toes may have froze off. ***? She's walking on her stumps, eating, drinking, and even laid an egg. I put her in the garage with a heat lamp and did a Betadine rinse. We'll see how she does overnight.
I don't know what happened. Half of my hen's leg is missing, and bone is exposed. She was enclosed in a coop/run, so it was not an animal attack. I have put her in her own place in the garage, but is there anything I can do for this severe of an injury, or should I just end her suffering?
She has become so sweet! She is still flighty, but she seeks attention from me now. I don't know if she thinks I'm her boy(girl?)friend or what, but she sure has turned the corner. She'll hop up on the deck and sit with me and want me to pet her.
I have a Silkie that the rest of my flock picks on relentlessly. She now spends all of her time alone either hiding somewhere in the yard or in a nesting box. It has gotten to the point that I have to chase all the other chickens out of the run and guard her just so she can drink water without...
Are blue ears typical with this breed? And I was pretty sure she was a hen, but her comb and waddles are starting to make me wonder. What say you, oh great chicken experts?
