My girls get so angry when it snows.. they complain more than I do about it. They dont even come out of the run anymore. Maybe I should hook up some cable tv for them to watch to pass their day!
I guess there is nothing wrong with laying on the floor. I use the deep litter method so there is plenty of shavings for a nest. I just wanted them in their boxes. Maybe someday I'll have one who will show them how to do it...
I finally have 2 girls laying, but they have yet to hit their nesting box. They seem to like the floor of their coop better. I've put in a golf ball but they just kick it out... I have also moved an egg after its been layed to the box hoping they would see it and get the idea. Any tricks...
No way are mine EVER going to lay. Why should they work for a living when they are treated like queens.. They knock at the sliding door and my husband runs to feed them treats! They have him very well trained!
WHooboy are my girls mad at the snow falling!!
I opened their run so they can free range and they have yet to pop outside. They are in their covered run complaining their little hearts out! I dont have the heart to tell them it has only just begun!
I cant find it around my area either...so I use stall dry. Its the same stuff it just has some clay mixed into it.
I buy stall dry in the horse section at any feed store..
I too am on the hunt for DE. I live below the bridge in Michigan... waving to my UP neighbor. I've hunted all over Gaylord and surrounding communities. I get the same " this is a crazy lady" look from feed store clerks. Anyone have some ideas to find what I'm looking for around Gaylord...
