Sorry for such a late response. She is on her 5th day at the vet. She was diagnosed with severe dehydration. I'm assuming it is because we couldn't get her to eat anything so she didn't have any electrolytes. We didn't have any pedialyte or anything avail, so we tried apple juice but she would...
Thank you both for your comments.
She certainly doesn't feel like she had a compacted crop, it feels empty like a pingpong ball compared to her normal tennis ball sized full crop. Probiotics is a good idea, I was going to get yogurt today, but couldn't find any plain. I'll try again tomorrow...
HI, I have a chicken that mostly lives in the house. She sleeps on our nightstand, has dinner with us every night, sits and watches tv on the couch. We are her flock. She does still get her time outside too. So recently she was acting weird and having watery yellow poops, which I'm assuming was...
Thank you all for your responses. It makes me feel a little better that there ARE good people and that I'm not alone. I guess I didn't realize that this post was against the rules..? I was in such a hurry and need for an emotional outreach, I had no where else to go. :(
Please, fellow chicken people, hear me out and don't blow me off as a "crazy PETA person". I love animals, I eat them too. I love a good steak/chicken/ribs. I know the awful things that go on for food industry animals.... but never knew as much as I found out last night. I am an owner of 4...
I am so so sorry for your loss. That is the strangest thing I've ever seen! Poor poooor hen. Also glad to know that I'm not the only one that has cut into a dead chicken to find out what was wrong, but it sure is sad when you DO find what was wrong.... It makes it a lot more emotional for me...
I have a 6 month old bantam faverolles that is a house chicken. I can tell when somethings up with her because I live with her :) SO for the past month or so she's been gavin soft shelled eggs. Weird, so we upped her calcium. Still no luck. Yesterday she was making noises like she needed to lay...
hope this helps.

It would be super fun to have a collage of runner up photos on the last page of the calendar! ;)
Bumble Beep's first beach trip. Photo by Courtney Vale. If this photo is chosen, I have a higher quality one available.
doin some math. ;) The quality of this might be too poor :/
Have you heard of coccidiosis? I woke up to a blood poopy girl today and every none was saying thats what it is and must be treated at once. I treated her with Corid. Look it up on google an see what you think...
Yesterday morning I saw a splatter of blood , mostly pure blood the size of two quarters. I thought it might have been from the cats since my chicken has been perky and normal and was popping normal. Today however there were more bloody stools an also some regular ones. She is acting normal ...
Thanks so much everyone! It's good to hear the encouragement!!!! All of my coworkers and friends call me chicken lady... lol I jsut love them so much. People don't undersand what smart, social creatures they are... and I get breakfast every singe day! :) For whoever asked, yes the cat is a...
She doesn't use a box or wear a diaper. But there is a liner where she sleeps. And her poops are very small and solid as long as she eats regularly. So she's just like cleaning up over any other bird. It hasn't become an issue, but later in her life when she's a little larger, we may do the...
Oh yikes, I didn't realize you still needed to ask mom. I'm sure my mom would tell me NO! But now that I am in my own house, I do what I want. BUT, I would definitely reccomend you get a bantam breed for the house, not large chickens. I think Mom would be a little more easy to convince with...
