How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

We're celebrating our first 4 egg day today!we knew we had four laying now, but never 4 in one day yet. We have one Leghorn that's now given us 6 eggs, and she's only 19 weeks. Beautiful eggs every one, in fact we have only lost one egg due to a crack, and several very impressive double yolks

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Getting three per day pretty steady now. Pretty sure only 4 of 11 are laying, still only 19 and 20 weeks old.

Free Range or Not? What Does Everyone Prefer?

It's not possible for us to let the girls run loose during the daytime. Lot's of neighbors with flowers and gardens for the chickens to tear up. We do our best to let the flock out into the yard a couple times a week to let them forage in the grass. They love getting out, we're considering some...

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

We had our first three egg day yesterday! Two pretty little brown eggs and our first white egg from a 17 week old Leghorn. Still only three birds laying, and not one egg today. We have 3 18 week old ISA's started laying last week.

    Are my chickens laying early?

I eat them. We've been buying farm fresh eggs for years in my neck of the woods and we see fertile eggs all the time. No difference in flavor or anything. Our girls have also begun to lay very early at 17 weeks. I'm not certain if what is called a sex link is the same as the ISA browns we got...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

Hello! We are first time chicken owners this year, and this week we are celebrating our first egg. How cool!! Very unexpected though, our oldest birds are 17 weeks this week, and the younger birds are 16 weeks. We bought three ISA browns from the local farm store not really understanding what...

What treat did your chickies get today?

That's the weirdest thing, our chickens absolutely LOVE tomatoes! And earwigs, we've made a trap to attract earwigs for the girls each morning. It's hilarious, they go wild !

Great info here, thanks to all. Our girls are only a week apart, we'll switch them over together when it's time.
