How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

4 to 5 daily out of 12 hens. I'm not sure if it's the extreme temps (105 today in NW Louisiana) or if they are maturing slow. Some their combs are not full as of yet, but they were Easter chicks so I thought surely by now they would ALL be laying.
Me too! we average 3-4 eggs a day out of 8 Easter chicks, since they are only 21 weeks old we should consider ourselves lucky,it's early compared to some layers, I just can't wait to see them all reach POL milestone....

I think I got fooled on my big 5 and 6 egg days last weekend and had two pullets(goldenSL's) lay 2 eggs in the same day cause ever since the "record 6" I'm only getting 3-4 a day and an occasional softy egg now for the last three days.... prior to this I had a twelve day straight run of 4 a day......hmmmmm hope the other RIR's and Amber SL kick it in gear soon! They are squatting practically throwing themselves at my feet when I go outside, and their combs and wattles are electric red and bigger than all the other hens!!!

Oh regardless, our small family of four is swimming in eggs, we are eating them fried scrambled boiled and in quiche. I had to stop baking, we're blowing up like balloons!! Tomorrow I am selling our first dozen to a coworker, she loves that I name and date the eggs for her, they did this where she grew up(date each egg)..... I added the hens names only cause I knew who layed what, she'll get a kick out of it cause she knows the hens....

I got 8 eggs yesterday!!!

That only leaves 4 of my girls that haven't started yet... I'm so proud of them! Whoever started laying yesterday was a bit confused, though... I found the egg on the ground in their run. Hopefully she'll learn. I have to go out of town for a few days and my BIL is going to be watching my place. I'm seriously bummed that I won't be there to collect the eggs and count them every day...

We're celebrating our first 4 egg day today!

we knew we had four laying now, but never 4 in one day yet. We have one Leghorn that's now given us 6 eggs, and she's only 19
weeks. Beautiful eggs every one, in fact we have only lost one egg due to a crack, and several very impressive double yolks

I'm gonna go high tech and get a date stamp someday(crayola wonders were handy and only wax so I thought it better than lead pencil) my friend said in Nova Scotia it is a requirement to date each egg??? for me it's no big deal( thought id use it as a marketing tool ha ha), but we always just dated the carton when we start filling them from left to right, It could be a pain with a bigger operation, but i like to look close at each egg just to make sure there are no cracks anyway, date stamp on egg would keep cartons neat, clean, and recyclable too, the recycled ones in my fridge are black sharpied all over and look kinda beat! our state just says your name, address, phone number, and the words ungraded on the carton somewhere, for resale/gifts/donations from your home(funny they don't mention date????) The cartons I ordered have nutrition info and storage requirements printed on them all ready.

We got 3 out of 13 hens a laying!!! One of our wellies/marans is laying!! I can't wait till everyone starts kicking in for the food bill
