    Egg eating chickens! Help!

Our girls have just started breaking shells and eating the eggs (one or two here and there) The girls are not yet one year old and are mostly inside (we live in cold Minnesota) and we have plenty of windows for them to see out. Anyone ever have and solved this problem? Thanks for any advice!

Hi! Yesterday afternoon one of the young hens (Chili - a Rhode Island Red) didn't join the rest outside and then started squawking and sure enough when I investigated there was a nice, little brown egg! How do raccoons get in coops and pens to kill?

Amethyste, wow, thanks for the info on coon attacks - I had no idea they would attack during the day - we just had a night attack (the door was not secured) but i thought they were safe during the day when they free range in our fenced orchard. Guess we need to reinforce everything :| Mickschicks

Hey Ivan3! Right you were! We live trapped by the LOCKED door of the coop and caught a young coon - you know your predators! THANKS! Sad part is find one small coon and there must be 5 more. So we will continue putting out the live trap until no more come in for a visit. (we used marshmallows...
