When you say "a full cycle" do you mean a year? I'm having the same problem with my surviving hen. She's sweet and friendly and has even adjusted to the "companion hen" we brought in for her. But No Eggs in three weeks--or only the collapsing kind.
thanks for all the great info...
Weve had two Rhode Island reds that we raised from little chicks, born around August 1, 2008.
A couple of weeks ago, our neighbor left both chickens outside all night and a predator got one of them. :hit The other chicken survived. She had a few broken feathers but otherwise seemed okay...
Our bigger chick (Peeps, 6-8 weeks old?) does this. I thought it meant he was thirsty. My DP thought it meant he was hungry. Then lately, we thought maybe it meant he was a rooster. But now we have two baby chickies (RIR) about a week old, and I've noticed them doing the same thing once in a while.
Hmmm, I wonder if I should try to weigh the chickie.
I know it's older than 3 weeks, because here's a picture from 3 weeks ago.
I guess it's really hard to tell the age from a picture with no scale.
Hi, I'm a brand newbie.
I'm taking care of this chicken for a child friend of mine. This is a photo from this week. (sorry there's nothing for scale).
Any ideas about how old this chicken is?
