1st post! One chick opening his mouth alot?

Our bigger chick (Peeps, 6-8 weeks old?) does this. I thought it meant he was thirsty. My DP thought it meant he was hungry. Then lately, we thought maybe it meant he was a rooster. But now we have two baby chickies (RIR) about a week old, and I've noticed them doing the same thing once in a while.

    How old is this chickie?

Hmmm, I wonder if I should try to weigh the chickie. I know it's older than 3 weeks, because here's a picture from 3 weeks ago. I guess it's really hard to tell the age from a picture with no scale.

    How old is this chickie?

Hi, I'm a brand newbie. I'm taking care of this chicken for a child friend of mine. This is a photo from this week. (sorry there's nothing for scale). Any ideas about how old this chicken is?
