Thanks for the replies :) I have no problem looking at other people's eggs and being sure of an answer, but when it's comes to mine I always second guess myself! I saw them breeding yesterday for the first time. I still can't believe this goose is a girl. "She" tried to breed with my daughter's...
It was a first egg so I wouldn't incubate it regardless. Goose eggs are huge, I have limited room in my brinsea. I don't want to put in an egg I don't know to be fertile when I have them from another bird that definitely are. Thanks for the input though.
I was shocked to discover our little gander is in fact a goose... I'm having a hard time deciding if her egg is fertile or not, and whether I should collect them for hatch. There is a gander with her, but he's paired up with another goose. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I have two turkey poults that we're hatched September 22nd, making them 9.5 weeks as of today. I don't know what breed they are, and the feed store was clueless when I picked them out. I'm including pictures from day one, approx 5 weeks, and within the last couple days. If any specific...
We had two hatch yesterday, and a third is pipped today! We're thinking they're Africans. My friend picked them up last night and introduced them this morning. As you can see they welcomed them and are guarding them! They're so cute :) those lucky geese have over 500 acres with numerous ponds...
Tyne two furthest along had the "dip" in them this morning so I switched them over to the hatcher! We have puppies due any minute, geese in the hatcher, quail and geese in the baton, and quail and a lone chick in the brooder. Crazy!
We pulled these eggs from a broody goose who keeps kicking out fully developed eggs. Any ideas on how far along they might be? The male is an African, and the females are an african, Chinese, and Toulouse if that helps at all. Thanks!
I tried the search, but I'm not coming up with much. Today is D-day for our 12 week old duck that ended up being a boy. I'm taking him to my parents house to do the deed and then smoke him. My husband and I have processed chickens and quail, so I know the general procedure, but from the little...
Yep, just the little yellow on the chest. I was thinking maybe cayuga, but he looks a little different than the pictures I've seen.... Maybe he's a mutt???
Anyone know what breed my little duckling is? He was one of the mystery ducklings sent along to the feed store any no one knew what he was. He/she has a little tuft on the back of his head too. Any ideas???
