I picked this out of the bantam assortment bin at TSC.
It's not a bantam as it is very large and larger then my marans, leghorns, and comets.
Which I told TSC that when I saw them, she said I'm not the first to say that.
So with that being said I'm really stumped as to what this little guy...
The water was cool going in..
Ugh! I want to give another go but I hate disappointment..
I always hatch via broody and obviously have fantastic success..
I live in New England and it's flipping cold. None of my hens would dare think about going broody in this temperature..
The peeping egg I had last night before going to bed died!! :(
Cracked the egg open and the membrane was pretty dried.. It had internally pipped into the air cell.
What a bust on that hatch!!!
My temp was perfect and never dropped through incubation and my humidity was 45%to day 18 and then...
I lost one egg!!!
So I have two eggs left there both peeping and they have been peeping since this morning, but with no external pips.
Does that seem normal?
I would think by now I would at least have an external pip
Good luck everyone with hatching.. Tomorrow is hatching day for me!!!
I did peek through the glass of the incubator and saw a egg rocking and rolling... :)
Avg: 4-5 a week
Now again there second year there not likely to lay all winter. It will be sporadic unless you light the coop.
But I have first time winter large fowls and they all stopped laying.. Ugh!!!
Duccles have the cutest feather feet and they look positively goofy when they run...
