    Sick duck and possibly chickens...

Alright well I don't know what I am doing wrong. I don't know if I smell, or spell things horribly, or sound like an idiot or what. I have tried several times posting various questions among other things about my chickens. I was very excited to find this place because no one around me has a...

    Sick duck and possibly chickens...

Two days ago I came home to a sick duck. She is a 9 month old female Fawn Runner with a runny nose and a swollen eye. One eye is crusty and almost swollen shut and the eyeball itself looks sunken. Her other eyelid was ripped and bleeding. I am not sure if it was pecked or she just cut it on...

    White Hen.

Excuse me it was the "Hatchery Surprise" that we got her from.

    White Hen.

I got her from Cackle. We got the "Barnyard" special I believe. She's the only one of her kind, everything else I got a pair or more of. We thought she was a white rock at first but then the other Rocks started growing and she just stayed the same. We looked at their site and really haven't seen...

Duck Problems. I think I've solved them!

So after mulling over raising baby ducks my husband and I are going to pull a switcharoo. I have two turken hens that like to go broody. I am going to let them lay their clutches and then swap them out with my duck eggs. We will see if that works. I have already put them into the nesting coop...

Is this hen an araucana or not?

My hens started laying about a month or two after everyone else. They have smaller eggs usually. I had a Roo and two hens: Eeney(roo) Miney and Moe. Eeney had to meet the chopping block when he hit about a year old. He became VERY aggressive and started spurring my husband and I. I was...

Is this hen an araucana or not?

Yep she looks like one of my Phoenix hens. I love that breed!

    White Hen.

Her comb is flat. Almost like she doesn't have one, it's just and extension of her eyes. An like I said normally she's ENTIRELY white, comb, eyes, everything.

    White Hen.

She's alot smaller than a Rhode Island White. She looks almost dead on to a Leghorn though.

    White Hen.

Hrmmm we got her in a "chick grab bag". She's not skinny from not eating. She's just, skinny. She's also the only one of her kind in my flock.

    PICTURES! Pullets? Cockerals? Breeds?

Your all black one almost looks like our Cochins. Maybe a Cochin cross?

    EE boys or girls?

They are female. I don't think pointed feathers plays a good role when discussing EE's. All my EE hens have had pointed feathers.

    White Hen.

The comparison pic isn't very good. She's about half the size of the white rocks.

    White Hen.

My husband and I have had this white hen for almost two years. She's not a White Rock, but we can't figure out what she is. She's very sweet and quiet. Normally her comb and face are white, but flush red when she runs. We have both tried to figure it out but can't pin it down. What do you think...

    Skin Care

Thanks Sammi! I did go last night and bought a jar of bag balm. I used it on the two "worse" hens to see how it does. Once I got up close it does look like a sunburn, and one of the girls started to purr once the cream went on. I am figuring the skin is so bad that the feathers can't come back...

Does anyone else have a hen who growls?

I have several hens who growl. My Silver Phoenix Moe does it the best though. That's the only sound she makes!

    Hen With Growth

Looks like a cyst to me. I personally wouldn't want to handle it. You should get it checked by a Vet. If the Vet lances it they can also assist with wound care.

    Help! Lost/missing/stolen chicken!

Most of the time when my chickens don't return it's due to death; either naturally or by a predator. I hope she comes home! *hug*
